Back in April\u00a0of\u00a0this\u00a0year, Chinese PV\u00a0module\u00a0manufacturer\u00a0Longi\u00a0Solar<\/a>\u00a0announced\u00a0that\u00a0it had achieved an\u00a0efficiency\u00a0of\u00a025.09%\u00a0for\u00a0its\u00a0bifacial\u00a0monocrystalline\u00a0N-type\u00a0Topcon\u00a0solar\u00a0cell. According\u00a0to\u00a0Longi,\u00a0this\u00a0solar\u00a0cell\u00a0was\u00a0developed\u00a0at\u00a0its\u00a0own\u00a0research\u00a0and\u00a0development\u00a0center.\u00a0Based\u00a0on a\u00a0commercial-size\u00a0wafer,\u00a0this\u00a0bifacial\u00a0cell\u00a0has\u00a0exceeded\u00a025%\u00a0efficiency\u00a0for\u00a0the\u00a0first\u00a0time in\u00a0history,\u00a0according\u00a0to\u00a0the\u00a0Chinese\u00a0manufacturer.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Within just one month, the Institute for Solar Energy Research (ISFH) in Hamelin was able to set a new record after numerous further tests. In May 2021, the efficiency is now already at 25.21%.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In\u00a0addition,\u00a0Longi<\/a>\u00a0announced\u00a0that\u00a0it\u00a0had\u00a0achieved\u00a0two\u00a0more\u00a0efficiency\u00a0records. A\u00a0monocrystalline Topcon\u00a0p-type\u00a0bifacial\u00a0solar\u00a0cell\u00a0was\u00a0found\u00a0to\u00a0have\u00a0an\u00a0efficiency\u00a0of\u00a025.02%. This was also\u00a0the first time\u00a0that\u00a0a\u00a0cell\u00a0based\u00a0on\u00a0this\u00a0technology\u00a0had\u00a0exceeded\u00a0the\u00a025%\u00a0mark.\u00a0Another\u00a0record\u00a0was\u00a0announced\u00a0for\u00a0the\u00a0HTJ\u00a0monocrystalline\u00a0solar\u00a0cell.\u00a0 This\u00a0cell\u00a0was\u00a0produced\u00a0by\u00a0Longi’s\u00a0New Technology R&D\u00a0Centre\u00a0and\u00a0achieved\u00a0an\u00a0efficiency\u00a0of\u00a025.26%.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Longi continues to pursue the goal of continuous improvement in the solar industry to achieve higher efficiency and more sustainability. According to Li Hua, vice president and head of Longi Solar’s research and development center, increasing such cell efficiency is particularly important for the  further development of photovoltaic technology. For research and development, the Chinese company invested nearly eight billion yuan in 2020 and 2021. This is the equivalent of about one billion euros.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conclusion <\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As\u00a0we\u00a0know,\u00a0Longi<\/a>\u00a0is\u00a0currently\u00a0the\u00a0largest\u00a0solar\u00a0manufacturer\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0world. This\u00a0is\u00a0usually calculated by\u00a0market\u00a0value\u00a0and\u00a0revenue. Last\u00a0year,\u00a0Longi\u00a0shipped\u00a0a total\u00a0of\u00a024.5 GW\u00a0of\u00a0modules and\u00a0thus\u00a0achieved\u00a0a\u00a0turnover\u00a0of\u00a0around\u00a054.58\u00a0billion\u00a0RMB (8.43\u00a0billion\u00a0US\u00a0dollars).\u00a0It\u00a0could\u00a0also\u00a0be determined\u00a0that\u00a0at\u00a0the\u00a0turn\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0year,\u00a0the\u00a0company\u00a0had\u00a0annual\u00a0production\u00a0capacities\u00a0of\u00a085 GW, 30 GW and 50 GW\u00a0for\u00a0its\u00a0mono\u00a0wafers,\u00a0cells\u00a0and\u00a0panels,\u00a0respectively.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Based on the data listed and the findings in this article, it is expected that Longi will steadily continue to invest significant sums in research and development to remain at the forefront of the market. We can look forward to seeing how quickly efficiencies will improve.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
