In addition to Jinko and other well- known manufacturers for photovoltaic products, the Chinese manufacturer Longi Solar also achieves a new efficiency for its Topcon solar cell and also places a new product on the market.

0.12 percent efficiency improvement for tunnel oxide passivation contact technology (Topcon) solar cell sets new record
Longi announced it has achieved a 0.12 percentage point increase in just one month. At the beginning of May, the efficiency was 25.09 percent. Now, however, it stands at a new record of 25.21 percent. Back in May, the Chinese photovoltaic manufacturer mentioned that a solar cell based on such technology had surpassed the 25 percent mark for the first time. However, the technical background necessary to achieve this goal was not mentioned. Li Hua, head of cell research and development, explained that in order to achieve the respective targets, Longi always tries to stay close to the essence of the technology. The best possible technical path is selected to maximize the performance potential of each product. In addition, necessary changes are always initiated immediately in order to be able to achieve the maximum of its own technical change. This approach currently makes Longi the world’s largest solar manufacturer in terms of market value and sales.
Bifacial n-type Topcon solar module with an efficiency of 22.3percent storms the market
In addition to increasing the efficiency of the tunnel oxide topcon solar cell, Longi introduced a newproduct in June this year. This is a bifacial n type topcon solar module with a calculated efficiency of 22.3 percent overall. This 144-half-cell module is to be available in six versions with outputs between 545 and 570 watts and with an efficiency between 21.3 and 22.3 percent.

Longi has hereby produced a module based on the company’s proprietary high-performance computing technology. The Chinese PV manufacturer promises us here to have produced a module which has,
- a better temperature coefficient,
- better performance at low irradiance,
- a lower operating temperature and
- better performance in light-induced degradation (LID) and potential-induced degradation (PID).
Accordingly, we can assume that the energy yield is two to three percent higher than conventional bifacial n-type modules.

Along with products from other numerous photovoltaic manufacturers, the new module and also the increased efficiency can definitely keep up.
